Not everyone thinks the Sign in with Apple button is safe enough

As part of WWDC 2019, Apple paid a lot of attention to the Sign in with Apple button. According to Coopertinoov, this decision will not only greatly simplify the lives of users, but also help protect their personal data. However, the OpenID Foundation does not quite agree with this statement.

According to representatives of the non-profit organization that develops and maintains the Authentication System OpenID, Coopertinoov used many of the capabilities of their platform. However, there are a number of notable differences between Sign in with Apple and OpenID. They pose risks to the security and privacy of users.

Now representatives of the OpenID Foundation are calling on Apple to eliminate all discrepancies between Sign in with Apple and OpenID Connect. This will make the new authentication method not only convenient but also reliable.

It is worth noting that in the past Sign in with Apple has already been criticized. However, then the innovation was not happy with the developers. The latter did not like Apple’s requirement to install its button above the rest.
