Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love – adventures in the Matryoshka (Mac)

A little less than a year ago, the Polish studio Artifex Mundi announced a humorous hand-drawn adventure called Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love, and more recently the project became available to the general public.

All the actions in Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love take place around the 1950s, during the confrontation between the United States and the USSR, when anti-communist sentiments prevailed in Western society. However, all this does not prevent the main character Evan Kowalski, a journalist of the small newspaper Daily Worker Monthly, to visit the country under the name Matreshka.

Kowalski believes that he will have the opportunity to interview the leader of the communist country. However, instead, the main character finds himself at the center of espionage intrigues between the two superpowers.

Despite the rather “cool” tie Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love can not be called a dynamic spy thriller. The story is told in an ironic style with a lot of jokes. However, sometimes the authors still overdo it with humor and instead of a smile replicas of the characters are rather surprising.

According to the mechanics of Irony Curtain is a classic point’n’click quest. In the game, users have to collect and combine different items, periodically solve small puzzles, collect puzzles and pass mini-games. The authors tried not to invent anything supernatural, so most of the puzzles are not busting objects, and logic.

To sum up, we can say that the Poles from Artifex Mundi managed to create a quest that will allow all fans of the genre to remember the golden times of LucasArts. Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love is a long, beautifully drawn and coolly voiced quest, which lacks colorful characters, a variety of puzzles and mini-games. The only serious downside of Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love is the complete lack of localization.
