For years, third-party developers and publishers have been critical of the App Store. In their opinion, Apple is not only a monopoly, but also constantly changing the “rules of the game” promoting their own solutions and services. Today Apple noted all such accusations.
According to apple company representatives, they only welcome competition in the App Store. But at the same time, Apple does not want its store to host low-use or substandard programs. Therefore, the company “takes responsibility” and ensures that applications meet the highest privacy and security standards.” At the same time, all the requirements are spelled out in special rules.
According to Apple representatives, censors and automatic algorithms of the store check about 100,000 applications per week. At the same time, only a third of them do not undergo moderation and are sent for revision. The rest appear on the shelves of the App Store.
As for accusations of “unfair play,” the company says it welcomes competition. If this were not the case, the App Store would not have a single analogue of standard iOS apps. In fact, it is not. As an example, the corporation lists a list of applications that compete with embedded programs. Among them you can find Spotify, Dropbox, Google Drive, Messenger, Viber, Gmail, Evernote, YouTube and many others.
In addition, the Coopertinos noted that they are trying to stimulate and popularize the development of programs for iOS. Specifically for this purpose, Apple develops simpler and more understandable tools, conducts training courses and provides free educational materials.
However, all this does not explain why some third-party apps disappear from the App Store after adding some features to iOS. So it was with programs that copied the Screen Time feature. Third-party solutions were available in the App Store long before such a feature appeared in iOS.
