Apple doesn’t want users to be able to repair iPhone on their own

Apple has long been trying to ban users from repairing Apple’s mobile devices on their own. There are no clear bans imposed by the Coopertinos. However, they are trying by all means to insist that repairs can only be done by specialists. Otherwise, users risk damaging the components of the device.

Such a campaign by Apple is primarily aimed at countering the initiative called Right to Repair. Its supporters are advocating the possibility of self-repairing mobile devices, including iPhones and iPads, at home.

In a recent meeting with representatives of the Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee, Apple lobbyists once again spoke out against self-repairing gadgets. The company believes that users unknowingly can accidentally damage the internal components of the device and cause themselves injury.

However, Nathan Proctor, director of the US PIRG human rights group, believes that the statement about the trauma of repairing Apple’s equipment is not true. The expert notes that today millions of people independently repair the iPhone, and some even do it on a permanent basis, taking orders from other owners of apple smartphones.

The Right to Repair initiative assumes that large manufacturers should share with users not only information about repairs, but also provide the opportunity to purchase components and tools that will allow to repair gadgets with their own Hands.
