Apple urges partners to gradually move production capacity outside China

The authoritative edition of Nikkei, citing its own sources, reports on negotiations between Apple and its production partners. According to the available data, the Coopertinos are asking Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron to assess the impact of transferring 15-30% of production capacity from China to Southeast Asia.

The reason for such movements was the incessant trade war between the United States and China. At the same time, even if the situation starts to improve, Apple still needs to think about moving part of production from China to other regions. This will allow the company to avoid problems in the future.

According to the available data, the Coopertinos turned to almost all their production partners. In addition to Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron, more than a dozen companies have received a request from Apple. Sources note that the Coopertinos offer partners to move up to a third of production capacity to India, Indonesia or Malaysia.

Last month, a Foxcomm spokesman said the company had enough capacity and resources to move some production outside China. Other large companies are also likely to have the right resources.
