In the spring of this year, Apple introduced its branded credit card. However, according to Ken Segal, former Creative Director of Apple, Steve Jobs thought about the idea of creating an apple credit card back in 2004.
Initially, Jobs wanted the Apple Card to have its own unique features. In particular, he pondered the loyalty program. Under its terms, users would receive special points – iPoints – if they were using the card, and could buy tracks on iTunes for them. In the early 2000s, such loyalty programs were rare. Therefore, the map could attract the attention of many users.
It is noteworthy that Apple not only came up with the idea of its own credit card, but also developed its design, as well as held talks with representatives of Barclays Bank. Moreover, the Coopertinos came up with several slogans. For example, “Buy lipstick, get Kiss” (Buy lipstick, get kiss kiss of the group Kiss). However, in the early 2000s the project was never implemented.
At the moment it is not known why Apple refused to issue its own credit card. There is an assumption that the Coopertinoovs failed to conclude final agreements. In particular, Apple could not agree with MasterCard, which was supposed to issue cards.
