Apple will continue to work on its own 5G modems

Apple has recently entered into a global agreement with zualcomm. This allowed the Coopertinos to solve problems with 5G modems. However, sources of The Information note that Apple does not plan to abandon the development of its own solution. However, the branded apple modem is not coming soon.

Sources believe that apple will have to spend at least five years to develop and test its own component, and the company’s mobile devices will not have a branded modem until 2025. In the meantime, the Coopertinos will use third-party solutions.

Recall that recently Apple relied on Intel products. However, the chipmaker faced a number of difficulties. As a result, Intel did not have time to release the necessary apple components in the right time. However, some sources claim that Apple initially did not believe too much in Intel’s ability to create a 5G modem for the iPhone.

At the moment, the Coopertinos are resuming the purchase of modems of zualcomm. At the same time, The Wall Street Journal, citing knowledgeable sources, notes that Apple is considering the possibility of acquiring part of Intel’s business. In April, the latter announced that it was discontinuing work on 5G modems for mobile devices.
